Burns...

Creating burns...
  • To create this burn you will need gelatine blood (available from PAM or screen face.) You can also use Jelly crystals from the supermarket if you are on a tight budget.
  • Always remember to consider if its a chemical burn, what colour is it, is it crusty?
  • Burns stay shiny, if they are from within they can be coloured around the edge. You can use supra colours for this but always remember to blend the colour well.
  • Base layer- Gelatine (harmless on the skin), latex or Mastix glue (Spirit gum is needed to remove it.) These can all be used to create the base scar layer.
  • Tear the tissue to create the burn effect, avoid harsh corners. Then dab glue or Collodion over the top. Build it up to enable it to sink into the skin. Use a hair dryer on a warm setting to help fix it. Use a cool setting if you are using gelatine. Crinkle/squish the tissue further to create more texture.
  • Any texture can be mixed with gelatine but avoid mixing in glitter until you are done melting up the product.
Health and safety:

  • Don't put any metal in the microwave (when heating up the blood.)
  • Heat the gelatine in the microwave for 40 seconds and shake (it will cool on the outside and warm in the middle.) Smear the product, create a plastic lip, blisters. Then leave it to dry shiny or cover it with make-up, using a porous surface e.g Vaseline or plastic. Cover with latex or gelatine and powder to avoid them sticking together.
